To calculate absorption costing, start by getting all your manufacturing costs and assets, both fixed and variable, then assign those costs to your products.

Next, you add up direct materials, direct labor, variable manufacturing overhead, and fixed manufacturing overhead. Now divide that total by the number of units produced. That gives you the cost per unit under absorption costing.

Think of absorption costing as spreading out all the production costs across your units.

You sum up everything, like raw materials, wages, and overhead costs. Then, you divide that total by how many units you made. That's your cost per unit.
