What is it called when assets are distributed to its owners?
submitted by Iris Oddit

Jason Jameson

It's called a distribution of earnings (or dividends in the case of corporations). If it's a sole proprietor or a partnership, it's called a drawing. When an asset is given to an owner, it will reduce retained earnings.

Rebecca

A company might call that a dividend. A small business would call it an owner's draw.

Kelly

If an asset is given to an owner, it's called a distribution of equity. You can consider it a dividend or a withdrawal, depending on how your business is structured.
