Is it really required that if I put something on Debit, I must also put the same thing in Credit?

Yep. You can't just put something on debit without a corresponding credit. It's a core rule to make sure your books stay balanced. Accounting is like a seesaw. If you put more weight on one side, you've got to put the same on the other.

From an accounting perspective, yes, every transaction needs to be recorded with both a debit and a credit for the same amount. This is what maintains the accounting equation: Assets = Liabilities + Equity.
